Enaon EDA, Hellenic Gas Distribution Company, which carries out its activities as the Natural Gas Distribution Network Operator, is implementing significant network upgrade projects in various areas of Athens.
These projects are part of the Company’s broader strategy to upgrade and enhance existing natural gas distribution infrastructure, aiming to further strengthen network safety, improve network supply, and stregthen its resilience.
At the same time, the interventions ensure long-term benefits for society and the environment, including reduced energy costs for households and businesses, improved energy efficiency, and reduced environmental impact, serving the public interest.
Currently, network upgrade projects were completed in the 28th October (Patision) street near Omonia Square, in the Lenorman street near Larissa Station and in Irakleidon street in Thisio and are expected to be completed in the Zografou area near Agios Thomas Square.
These are extensive and highly complex projects involving the isolation of the old cast iron network and the installation of a new PE (polyethylene) network with the aim of ensuring safe and uninterrupted supply to consumers. With the aim of minimizing inconvenience to citizens, then new networks must be constructed and activated before the old ones are decommissioned, so that consumers can be transferred to the new infrastructure with the least possible interruption in supply.
In the context of the implementation of the projects, Enaon EDA collaborates closely with all involved parties and authorities to ensure that planning is coordinated and that the impact on citizens’ daily lives is minimized. At the same time, the Company intervenes directly to address any technical issues and outstanding matters.
The Company’s primary concern is that each stage of the projects is implemented with transparency, efficiency, increased safety and respect for the needs of residents and the environment.
