Impressive results of the coastal and underwater cleaning of the beach, in collaboration with All for Blue and the Municipality of Pylaia – Hortiatis
Enaon, the Sustainable Networks Company, in cooperation with the environmental non-profit organization All for Blue and with the valuabe support of the Municipality of Pylaia – Hortiatis, successfully carried out a voluntary action of coastal and underwater clean up of Pylaia beach, on Friday 20 September 2024. The action implemented is part of the Company’s wider Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, confirming once again its commitment to the protection of the environment and contributing to the creation of a sustainable future for future generations.
The aim of the action was to raise awareness for the protection of the marine ecosystem and the promotion of environmental sustainability.
Enaon group employees, together with the CEO, Ms Barbara Morgante, and the CEO of its subsidiary Enaon EDA, Ms Francesca Zanninotti, as well as volunteers from All for Blue and the Municipality of Pylaia Hortiatis, joined forces to clean both the coast and the sea.
The action produced impressive results, with the removal of a large amount of rubbish from the beach and the seabed. More than 50 employees and volunteers gathered at Pylaia beach, achieving to collect more than 172 kilos of waste from the coastal area. At the same time, a team of certified divers undertook underwater cleaning, ensuring a holistic approach to protect marine life and preserve the coastline.
The action was attended by the Mayor of Pylaia – Hortiatis and President of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia, Mr Ignatios Kaitezidis, who emphasised: “We thank Enaon, the Sustainable Networks Company, and the environmental organisation All for Blue for their action to raise public awareness of the environmental impact of plastic waste and for their major initiative to clean up our beach and seabed. We have supported the initiative, not only today but throughout the year, through our municipal recycling policy. For plastic, for glass, for paper, for organic waste. With blue, brown and yellow bins in all municipalities, but also recycling of clothes, shoes, etc. The environment is our great home. There is a whole world under the sea that we must respect and protect. Plastic breaks down and returns to us through the food chain. That is why it is important – and well done to everyone who took part – that the plastic we collect is returned in the form of bins, as proof that recycling makes a material sustainable. Recycling is everyone’s business. Together we can do better!”
For her part, Ms Barbara Morgante, CEO of Enaon, underlined: «At Enaon, we believe that our mission goes beyond the development of gas infrastructure in order to provide an affordable and environmentally friendly form of energy. Our mission also extends to ensuring the protection and preservation of the environment in which we operate.
The clean up of Pylaia beach, co-organised with the non-profit organisation All For Blue and valuably supported by the Municipality of Pylaia Ηortiatis, reflects our ongoing commitment to sustainability and the well-being of local communities. The environmental challenges we face today require collective action. That’s why we are not only investing in innovative energy solutions, but also actively promoting initiatives like this, where our employees volunteer their time and effort to make a tangible difference. By working together, we can protect the environment for future generations.
Through such initiatives, we not only contribute to the conservation of natural resources, but also foster a culture of volunteerism and awareness among our employees. I am proud of our team’s participation in this important initiative and I would like to warmly thank everyone who participated – the Company’s employees, volunteers, the environmental non-profit organization All For Blue, as well as the Mayor of Pylaia – Hortiatis and President of the Regional Union of Municipalities of Central Macedonia, Mr. Ignatios Kaitezidis and his team for their valuable support».
