Enaon EDA: Inauguration of the new Consumer Service Office in Lamia
Enaon EDA, Hellenic Gas Distribution Company, a subsidiary of Enaon of the Italgas Group, inaugurated on Friday 14/03/2025 the new Consumer Service Office in Lamia, confirming the company’s commitment to creating sustainable value for local communities by offering solutions that improve the quality of life of citizens.
The new office was inaugurated by Mrs. Francesca Zanninotti, CEO of Enaon EDA, in the presence of the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Mr. Fanis Spanos, the Mayor of Lamia, Mr. Panourgias N. Papaioannou, representatives of local stakeholders, as well as company executives and employees.
The CEO of Enaon EDA, Ms Francesca Zanninotti, pointed out: “We are very happy to have our own “home” in the city of Lamia. The new office allows us to be closer to the citizens and better serve their needs. We are here to support the local community in every step of the process of connecting to the gas distribution network, providing personalised services on a one-to-one basis. Citizens have embraced the project we are developing in Lamia and have shown great interest in connecting to the network, which currently distributes natural gas and will be ready to distribute biomethane in the near future. The success of this project is the result of a joint effort. I would like to thank the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Mr Fanis Spanos, the Mayor of Lamia, Mr Panourgias Papaioannou, all the local stakeholders who have contributed to this effort and, of course, the citizens. Our goal is to build a better future for all, creating value for present and future generations“.
For his part, the Regional Governor of Central Greece, Mr Fanis Spanos, said: “We are committed to putting cleaner forms of energy, such as natural gas, on the energy map of Central Greece, alongside conventional fuels. In this project, supported and financed by the NSRF of our region, we had a valuable ally, Enaon EDA, to whom we are very grateful. Our path encountered some challenges that may have caused some inconvenience to the residents of Lamia. But the inconvenience is over, the projects are here to stay! Today, households and businesses in six towns of the region of Central Greece and here in the region’s capital, Lamia, have access to natural gas and are having significant benefits from this strategic investment. It is a good start and I hope that there will be the possibility to extend the natural gas distribution network to other areas of Central Greece, so that more and more citizens can have access to a cleaner and more efficient form of energy”.
The Mayor of Lamia, Mr Panourgias N. Papaioannou, said: “It is with great pleasure that I participate today in the inauguration of the Office of Hellenic Gas Distribution Company, Enaon EDA, in Lamia, the company that is the leading network operator in the country. A company whose work has multiple benefits for citizens and the local community, as well as for the environment. Compared to other energy sources, natural gas is considered to be a clean, modern, sustainable and, above all, economical option. With this in mind, the Municipality of Lamia has signed contracts with Enaon EDA for the connection of nine municipal buildings to the gas distribution network. Today is an important day for our country and the provision of quality energy services to our citizens and the wider community. I wish you every success with your project“.
The gas distribution infrastructure development project in Lamia, led by Enaon EDA, has a total budget of 9.3 million euros and is co-financed by the company’s own funds and NSRF funds, through the Operational Programme of the Region of Central Greece, which supports the development of the network in a total of six cities. Co-funded by Greece and the European Union, the project was launched with resources from the NSRF 2014-2020 and will be completed through the Sterea Ellada Programme 2021-2027.
In Lamia, 70 km of low-pressure network have already been constructed, while an additional 30 km are to be constructed to complete the co-funded project.
Today, in Lamia, more than 1,200 consumers are already connected to the network, including not only residences, but also businesses, public buildings, such as the Lamia Hospital, as well as large industries. According to Enaon EDA’s Development Plan for 2025-2029, more than 8,000 consumers are estimated to be connected to the grid by the end of 2029.
The new consumer service office in Lamia is located at 12 Satovriandou Street and operates daily from 8.30 am to 2.30 pm, offering services to existing and future consumers, as well as to professionals, such as engineers and installers, facilitating the process of connecting to the grid.
It is noted that, under the co-funded project, there is a 100% discount on connection fees for all residential and commercial consumers.
Central Greece is one of the nine regions of the country where Enaon EDA is developing energy infrastructure for natural gas distribution, ready to receive renewable gases, such as biomethane, in the near future, giving local communities access to a cleaner, more reliable and economical form of energy.
