Moreover, during the first five months of 2026, a 15% increase in new consumer activations was recorded compared with the corresponding period in 2025.

Over the past three years (2023–2026), the natural gas distribution network has been expanded to 13 new cities across five regions of the country, while until March 2027 an additional seven areas — Arta, Preveza, Igoumenitsa, Ioannina, Patras, Agrinio and Pyrgos — will gain access to a more resilient, cleaner and more efficient form of energy.

The broad representation of Distribution Users at the meeting highlighted the shared commitment to the continuous upgrading of services and effective cooperation for the benefit of consumers. For their part, participating Distribution Users put forward their proposals and expressed their willingness for the joint and prompt handling of issues matters of common interest within the framework of regular cooperation, with the aim of ensuring the smooth functioning of the market.

The networks managed by Enaon are already technologically ready to accommodate renewable gases such as biomethane, contributing to the gradual transition to a more sustainable energy system. The utilisation of biomethane can reduce the environmental footprint of energy consumption while maintaining the use of existing consumer infrastructure and installations.

Greece has established a comprehensive regulatory framework for the production, certification and injection of biomethane into distribution networks, creating the conditions for the development of a new renewable gases market. Enaon has already mapped existing biogas units and their potential connection points to the network. In order to fully unlock this potential, the introduction of a stable incentive framework is required to encourage the necessary investments.

A key pillar of Enaon’s strategy is the digitalisation of the network, with the aim of improving the customer experience, enhancing network reliability, and supporting the energy transition. In this context, the company is proceeding with the replacement of conventional meters with next-generation smart meters, as well as the implementation of the DANA digital platform for real-time network monitoring.

Smart meters enable more accurate and faster recording of consumption, reduce the need for on-site visits for meter readings, and contribute to the quicker management of potential technical issues. At the same time, they provide the capability to develop new digital services for consumers and enhance the overall efficiency of the network.

In addition, the new generation of meters, such as the Nimbus H2 based on Italgas Group technology, has been designed to support the gradual integration of renewable gases and hydrogen into distribution networks. Nimbus meter can safely handle blends of natural gas and hydrogen with a hydrogen content of up to 23%, facilitating the transition to a more sustainable energy model. The overall programme to replace traditional meters across the networks managed by Enaon EDA in Greece started on a large scale in October 2025, with the goal to finish all activities by 2030. The first Nimbus installations took place in March 2026, with a target to install more than 20,000 units by the end of 2026.

Enaon, through its subsidiary Enaon EDA, currently manages an extensive natural gas network of approximately 9,200 kilometres across 117 municipalities in Greece, distributing energy to more than 658,000 households, businesses, public buildings and industries. The company’s Development Programme is fully aligned with the Italgas Group Strategic Plan 2025–2031, which provides for investments of approximately €1 billion in Greece for the expansion and digitalisation of the network, creating the conditions for the development and integration of renewable gases and accelerating the country’s energy transition.

With the aim of strengthening cooperation and optimising the services provided to end natural gas consumers Enaon, Sustainable Networks Company of the Italgas Group, organised a working meeting with representatives […]

[19

post-676774","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-press-release
["GET
