Enaon EDA: New resources and cutting-edge technologies are used to restart the Natural Gas project in Drama

The Company’s CEO, Francesca Zanninotti had a meeting with the Mayor of Drama, presenting the new timetable for the implementation of the project

 

The restart of the construction works of the natural gas distribution network in the city of Drama and the updated planning of the project for the next period of time, were discussed at a meeting held today between Ms. Francesca Zanninotti, CEO of Enaon EDA, Hellenic Gas Distribution Company, a subsidiary of Enaon of the Italgas Group, executives of the Company and the Mayor of Drama, Mr. Giorgos Papadopoulos.

 

During the meeting, which was held in a positive atmosphere, Enaon EDA presented the new schedule for the completion of the project, for which the Company has allocated new resources and tools for the seamless completion of the gas network in Drama.

In this context, the CEO of Enaon EDA, Ms. Francesca Zanninotti stressed to the Mayor of Drama, Mr Papadopoulos, the Company’s commitment to proceed consistently with the new timetable, providing, as soon as possible, more households and businesses in the city with access to a more efficient and “cleaner” form of energy. At the same time, she assured that the projects will be implemented with the least possible disturbance, respecting the local community and the environment.

 

According to the Company’s updated planning, the network construction works in Drama will restart by the end of October providing for the construction of 75 new kilometres of low pressure network and at least 2,200 new consumer connections from the residential, commercial and industrial sectors with a completion date of 2026.

Demand recorded for connection to the gas network in Drama is increasing, with 1,120 contracts signed and 1,929 connection requests. At the same time, among the beneficiaries in Drama who already consume natural gas are, apart from residential and commercial consumers, the General Hospital of Drama and the Municipal Swimming Pool of Drama and 7 industries.

 

The gas distribution network construction project in Drama and Xanthi has a total budget of EUR 16.8 million and is co-financed by Enaon’s own funds and resources to date from the NSRF 2014-2020 through the Operational Programme for Eastern Macedonia – Thrace 2014-2020.

 

The Mayor of Drama, Mr. Giorgos Papadopoulos, after the conclusion of the meeting, said  “In a fruitful discussion that took place in my office, I was informed by Ms Francesca Zanninotti, CEO of Enaon EDA and executives of the Company about the resumption of the construction of the Natural Gas Distribution Network in our city in the near future. The Company’s intentions for a good collaboration on new terms, in the best interest of the City, and in a good climate, inspired by respect and reliability, make us optimistic for the future. The company guarantees that the progress of the project will follow the planned schedule, and that its commitments will be fully respected, and we have no reason to doubt this in the resumption of our cooperation. The aim is to complete the project to the highest standards of quality and responsibility, serving the households and businesses of Drama. We hope that in this way we will all contribute to both local development and environmental protection”.

 

 

For her part, Enaon EDA’s CEO, Ms Francesca Zanninotti underlined: “In a very positive and productive atmosphere, we presented today to the Mayor of Drama the updated timetable for the implementation of the gas distribution network project in the city, in which we are moving forward with new resources and new tools, overcoming the obstacles of the past.  We are fully committed to working with dedication in order to ensure that the project is completed on time and to the highest standards of quality and accountability.  With consistency and determination we are working hard to meet the agreed targets, with the local community at the centre of our efforts, so that gas reaches as many homes and businesses as possible, contributing to regional development and reducing our environmental footprint. The network under construction in Drama is smart, digital and ready to receive renewable gases, further enhancing the efficiency, safety and sustainability of our operations».

 

After the meeting with the Mayor of Drama, Ms Zanninnotti had the honour of visiting the Archaeological Museum of Drama, where there is a temporary exhibition of archaeological findings related to Hellenistic Drama, which were discovered during the project for the installation of the natural gas network in the city.

It should be noted that during the construction of the pipeline, sites of archaeological interest dating from the Hellenistic period to the late Ottoman period were identified in various parts of the city. These include buildings, tombs, pits, cobbled streets and constructed canals.

 

The CEO of Enaon EDA was guided through the exhibition by Mrs. Vasiliki Poulioudi, Deputy Head of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Drama, highlighting the importance that the Group attaches to the protection and promotion of cultural heritage, with initiatives and actions that promote the development and prosperity of local communities for the benefit of future generations.
