Smart Metering

Nimbus: the meter of the future, designed to offer more

A smart meter that enables our networks to receive, distribute and measure multiple types of gas more effectively, even in combination with each other.

Nimbus, the smart meter of the future, has a modular and compact design and excels in terms of performance, safety and sustainability. More reliable and safe, it is made of sustainable materials and offers top-notch performance.

INNOVATION
  • Nimbus is designed to improve performance and innovate energy management combining advanced technology with modular, compact and intuitive design.
  • The cutting-edge smart meter will enable enaon networks to accommodate, distribute and measure more effectively multiple types of gas, even in blending with each other, including Natural Gas-Hydrogen (H2) mixtures up to 23%.
PERFORMANCE
  • The Nimbus meter has an average battery life of 15 years, about twice that of conventional smart meters on the market. It is smaller, easier to carry and install, yet compatible with more gas blends.
  • The gas flow measurement system is static, in particular thermo-mass based technology, compatible with natural gas and methane-hydrogen blends of over 20%.
SAFETY
  • Nimbus guarantees maximised safety on all fronts, as it is equipped with detectors to prevent to tampering or disconnection from the network, as well as a pressure sensor, a seismic sensor and a temperature sensor that interrupt the gas supply in case of earthquake and fires.
  • A seismic sensor and an external temperature detection sensor capable of interrupting gas supply in the event of seismic activities and fires, enabling data sharing with authorities responsible for territorial security.
  • Specific anti-tampering solutions promptly detect attempts to manipulate or disconnect the device.
SUSTAINABILITY
  • Nimbus enables the use of renewable gases, being compatible with natural gas and methane-hydrogen blends. It is composed up to 85% of recyclable material in line with the circular economy approach reducing the environmental footprint associated with enaon activities.
  • The widespread adoption of Nimbus devices on the entire enaon utility network will give a strong boost to the use of renewable gas, contributing to the energy transition in Greece.
